Just been stopped at a police check point, got a warning for my 3/4 size plate (fair enough)
Then I was told if VOSA were present that my car would have had a 'temporary prohibition'(sp) slapped on it because my 3-point harness' are illegal I ask why and he says because they are. Now I thought aslong as they have a red button with the word 'press' on it they were fine, so that the emergency services know how undo them. They have 'E' mark on them too and they are secured to seatbelt mounting points.
Anyone heard of that before??
Also had to laugh when I got stopped on the otherside of the on-way system,
Me "I've been stopped on the otherside"
Copper "Did they tell you about your wheels?"
Me "Why would they?"
Copper "They are catching"
Me "That my power steering pump, it's noisey"
Copper "Oh, carry on"

Mine had a red button, e mark and were secured to the seat mountings, and passed an MOT like it, so I'd have thought they were fine.
Sounds like a copper who doesn't know what he's on about TBH.
Did they give do anything other than mention it?

He just mentioned it, I raised the point about people who do road rallys and he looked a bit stumped

tbh dave he MOT tester should be right, its his job, day in day out. The copper has to remember EVERYTHING about the law (within reason) to do his job.
If it passes te MOT - Laugh at them and drive away

Yeah, near Wigan Pier fella.
Think he was pissed off at the fact there being nothing wrong (bar number plate) and me being a young driver in a old car.

Not been pulled once with harnesses, but even the VOSA website says as long as they are e-marked and suitable for the purpose, then they are fine.

In my old corsa which i had harnesses in i got pulled 7 times in 5 days over aparently not wearing a seatbelt.
Best one was
Sat in my car waiting for the orificer to come to my window. I just put the window down and waited for him.
Officer- Do you realise you wernt wearing your seatbelt just then
Me- I know i wasnt
Officer- Are you trying to be funny about tthis
Me- No not at all (slide a thumb under each harness strap and just said 'look harnesses)
Officer- Oh err sorry sir ill let you get on then.
