What is the cheapest price i could get for fitting some performance cams?

newmans 264 ones, will i need to buy anything else or just the cams?

what gains can i expect??

are these the best cams to get??

can i get them from anywhere else other thna newmans for cheaper??

Broster might be able to do you a price on them? I believe Jamsport have close relations with Newmans.

You don't need anything else for the 264s, just the cams.

IIRC Dave doesnt have the closest connections with Newmans.

dont do it unless you are going to

a) run decent management
b) fit verniers
c) run arp rod bolts/SBD idlers to take a higher rev limit
d) new inlet

no, we dont. however we now offer a 280 degree newman cam that we designed that runs low lift that will work with standard pistons.

Are vauxhall engines really that bad? You can happily run up to 285 degree cams on TU engines with standard bolts and management.

No.

It's just you encounter problems with valve/piston contact when you go above a certain off the shelf duration.

You can run ANY cams you like with standard management, it's just not worth it as there are no real gains without raising the rev limit (which is when you need the new rod bolts) and fitting a new inlet (and for the really long durations, you need a proper inlet setup with multible throttles)

If you stay below about 7500rpm, there's no need for the ARP bolts.

you can actually fit 288 degree cams with 11mm of lift in a standard x16xe. you wont get the cam timing perfect though without valve/piston contact.

Cams are a waste of time without some form of mapping, as I said in my tutorial above.

8/10 engines that come to me for mapping or dyno work that have cams fitted have never had them dialled in correctly, cams arent a fit and forget modification, they require time and money to be spent on them. I have spent 3 hours today playing with mine on the dyno and still not happy.

200bhp is well within my sights though

i have just looked on piper and they offer fast road cams with a of 256deg

they say increase of 10bhp??

also it says the cost £380 or £180 reprofiled, is that where you send away your cams and they change them??

is this reccomended?

and are these cams any good??

get new ones.... 10bhp is shite unless mapped to suit cams.

fitting - £80 for cams fitted then £40/60 to be dialed in
