Hey,

I recently went on a long drive up north, during this time my passenger-side speaker stopped working properly; it crackles faintly, you can sometimes hear parts of the music more than the vocals etc.. and sometimes it doesnt work at all. A mate told me a might have blown it, my music is never too loud, nothing the old standard speakers couldn't handle.

does anyone have any ideas to this? could this be a loose connection?

Could be a lose connection like you say, its only a 10min job to find out. Could be damp inside aswell so just check for that aswell as any lose wires/plugs.

FUCKING VAUXHALL

I found out what it is... behind both doors is soaking wet... but more so on the passenger side, i can only presume this is becuase if there are any puddles on the road this is the side that usually hits them.

The thing is; when I got my mud-flaps the instructions me to TOLD me t cut holes in my arches (which i did) so that the clips can attach...

So now I have one speaker which doesnt work, one speaker that was lightly damp but still worked and 2 holes in my arch area around my wheel.

What can I do from here? anyone got any ideas?? fuck im pissed off

Also; what are the chances of my speaker working after it's dried out??

Might be alright if you take it out and let it dry out fully.

Bit of sealent around where you cut the holes may stop the water from getting in.

Are you sure its coming in from there though, as the door is a seperate sealed unit. Would have thought it would be the door rubber or the multi plug connector more likly at fault myself.

Really want to see where its getting in first before you go replacing stuff.

Could try taking the speaker out and removing the door card and pocket. Then close the door and window. Get in the car and get someone to hose down the car. Might be able to see a leak then.

Havent tried this myself, just an idea

I tried this, it's getting in at the front of the door on the outside by the window near the mirror. I put the hose there for about 5 seconds and the water POURED down near where the speaker is... what can I do to fix this??? :S Could I cover the back of the speaker in plastic somehow??? or somehow stop water from getting in?

manuel mirrors? If so it could be the seal on these as there is a big hole where the arm comes into the car (dont know what its like on elec mirrors) so it could be the seal here.
If not it will be the window seal that is at fault along the bottom of the window.

Is this something that I could get to solve the problem? has anyone got some of these? is it worth finding another solution to this instead of spending a stupid amount of money on these??

Go to the scrappers and get a new seal, else you will end up with fucked speakers, and a rotten, damp door.

oh ok, hopefully that dies the trick.

Should I buy some of those moisture protectors anyway? or are they not really worth it?
