I'm pretty sure paper can't be folded by hand more than 7 times? if it can it would be seriously seriously hard.
edit - quick google check say's some geek folded it using mathematical mumbojumbo 12 times. (When was the last time you had your hole pal?)

The paper used was micro thin and about the size of a football pitch

tis easy if the paper is perforated on every fold, allows the trapped air out which is what makes it hard to fold.
