Woke up to a phone call today from work asking if i could go in. Good mood i said yes and started driving to work. Key turned, ignition on and start button pushed, i drove off and everything was fine.

About 10 miles further down the road i pulled up to a roundabout with a Polo and thought "Fecking hell, that stinks". Pulled off round the roundabout and my stereo went mad, followed by EVERYTHING cutting out.

No electrics, powersteering or brakes. Swerved into Tesco car park and got out to smoke everywhere. Popped the bonnet and it was bellowing with smoke. Smelt fire, then i was really worried.

Closed bonnet, legged it to Tesco supervisor, notified them and legged it to work. Unfortunatly, our pickup truck was out so had to call the RAC. They turned up in 15 minutes!!! Rapid. As soon as he smelt it he thought it was fucked, completly and totally fucked.

LUCKILY, it turned out that the key or start button had got stuck and kept supplying the starter motor with electricity causing it to catch fire.

Hour later, new starter motor. Its fine. Really thought that was the end of my Corsa

Shit myself though lol (Not literally)

Just a overview of my day for you!

Well, tbh, its the only thing that could of been really, you dont see anyone else saying their starter motor caught fire? Must be the push button start, get shot of it before the car blows up or something

I never said it was the button that caused the fault, could have been yes, was, no.

And the ignition getting stuck is a common vauxhall corsa/astra fault as said above!
