imagine you are at the scene of a car crash, your the only one there and there is a man inside bleeding heavily from the neck, he has a piece of glass in his neck that has severed an artery.
so you ring the emergency services, they say they are sending out an ambulance, but by the time that gets there the man will have bled to death.
They talk you through some instructions over the phone that will involve you applying pressure on the wound with your hand to stem the blood flow, this will save the mans life.
Before you do this, you notice in the car there is evidence of herion injecting, needles etc.
This means the man has an increased risk of having aids.
Would you risk getting the mans blood all over you to save his life, at the risk of potentially catching aids yourself?
just pretend things like wearing plastic gloves etc arent an option

Not worth the risk of catching AIDs, so unfortunately I wouldn't help the man unless I had gloves which you say isn't an option. I'm sure the emergency services would advise you not to treat the man if there was a risk of catching AIDs

bear in mind you dont KNOW the man has aids, its just a risk due to the needles n stuff lying around

i did bear that in mind, and still wouldn't as there is a chance he does has AIDs and its a risk i wouldn't take.

if you got no cuts on your hands etc then surely you'd be quite alright? and i dont know what i would do, would be a spare of the moment decision

If you noticed this whilst on the phone to the emergency services I'd imagine they would advise against. If you notice afterwards common sense would suggest that you wouldn't risk it.
