looking to start a course soon if theres any going..

so far i've found the following?

Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) - NVQ2/3/4 in Accounting

any help would be appreciated

you won't start on technician. You need to start on foundation or intermediate depending on what qualifications you already have?

really? oh

was going to suggest going on the bookkeeping course. Its supposed to be really good to get an understanding of accountancy. First year (foundation) is really easy and i studied that at college. Get to your local college to see what courses they are offering.

really depends on who you work for...if its a soletrader (small business) it will be a lot less than working for a big business but it varies from 8k to 12k

My mrs mum is head accountant of the university of aberystwyth, i'd like to have a word with her about it but i don't want to look like im suck up

would it be possible to do nvq 2 on a Monday and nvq 3 on a Tuesday say?

or would 2 need completing before progressing to the third module?

no, you have to pass nvq 2 before you can do nvq 3. Nvq 2 will take you 1 year on a part-time course. NVQ 3 will take 2 years iirc

Its a great place to start, I'ma fellow member of the AAT and also now a member of the ACCA and would defof recommend AAT.

Starting pay, well I started working for a small local partnership in 1999 straight from college with my a levels and did AAT night school and I was on £9,500 so tot on some inflation and youre maybe looking at £12-14k perhaps? Depends on your previous experience etc...

AAT is easily doable by majority of people IMO and Accy itself isnt really that hard, its as hard as you want it to be tbh, you might be quite happy working AP/AR all your life or you might wanna go FD... obviously that depends on how tricky it becomes

Natalie is also an AAT Member

Fad and BigSte are also Accountants both doing ACCA (which Natalie also is) but I'm not sure if they went down the AAT route... I think BigSte did

All sorts mate lol, Coda, SAP, Oracle, AS/400, Sage Instant/Line 50/Line 100, IRIS, TASBooks, Quicken (

), Microsoft Money, Excel, scraps of paper written in stables smeared in horse shit... the lot

On top of that Ive used things like Hyperion and Business Objects etc... "business planning tools"
