Loss of weight is the best way to make them go quicker, and its free

Other things like attacking the air box and a new exhaust will make it sound nicer/faster but wont really see much gain if any.......

nitrous oxide is the only thing that will see half decent power and torque but it will destroy the clutch and other parts that were only supposed to take 1.2 power

tbh, I didn't believe the hype on the 1.2 16v anyway.

I'm sure you could turbo the 8v

On 2nd thoughts, as we saw at Santa Pod on Sunday, if you want to make the 1.2 8v faster, take it out and have a 973cc 12v engine fitted

When I removed the whole of the rear interior from my last Corsa it made a big difference, you wouldn't believe how much some of that stuff weighs! Also maybe invest in a strut brace to improve the handling (along with lowering). Not much point trying to improve the power of a small engined car, better off doing things to improve the ride and handling.

I removed my rear seats and parcel shelf the other week. I weighed them and they only turned out to be roughly 20kg altogether.

Your not going t get a lot out of it unless you do quite drastic things. Lightening will make it accelerate quicker and feel faster, try throwing in a lightened flywheel and it be a lot better, other than that, bore it out to 1300 and put a turbo on it for quite a bit of power from such a small engine.

Think that might be the one. But that 170bhp is from Regal rollers or something. Hmmm

I was joking. A 1.0 12v looked considerably quicker at Santa Pod than a 1.2 8v.

Never mind.

c16nz inlet will double the power to 12bhp seriously tho fitting a 16nz manifold does make a difference, then stick a nova sr cam in it and itl be a bit better

the 170bhp figure was surprisingly on the dbilas website.

ill give you the sensible answer..

you can gain around 15bhp from a few choice parts...

Drilled airbox and performance panel filter
a 1.8 Cavalier 8v Singlepoint Throttlebody
a 1.4 Injector
a 1.6 Asta 8v Singlepoint Inlet manifold
Nova Sr cam
a decent exhaust manifold and decat

now theyre all relatively cheap except the manifold which is the likes of sportex and about £130 iirc

the rest are just o.e parts found on other vaux models.. there are a few variants of inlet though im not too sure on how to identify the correct one.. i was lucky enough that Vaux lad linked me to one on ebay

i think you can also use a nova gte cam but im not quite sure...

theres a bit more information knocking about png
