c20xe every time, why fit an inferior engine in the first place. People will bang on about how the 8v is stronger blah blah. Its not end of........... the same strength just it makes so little power it wont bother the bottom end at all.

To answer someone elses question.

Go and get a torque curve for a C20SEH and lay it on top of a C20XE one. Come back then.

Good point of an 8v, you can pick them up for £50 / £100, and a bit more room to work on in a corsa bay. Not a bad motor by any means but not as good as an XE.

I don't imagine there are many decent 20seh's still around. You have to be careful you actually get one and not a 115 bhp 20ne. Best to check engine codes before buying.

a seh wont go for 50 quid, think sehs are becoming rarer and rarer these days

not really worth the hassle of conversion for the 115bhp model imo

Yes

Yes he is correct. 8v's feel like they have more low end torque, but that is because they don't have the high rev torque to compare!

If your fitting an bigger engine to make a car faster your not exactly going to be racing at tick over are you? If you want low end torque get a diesel if you want power then stay away from a 8v.

i like the xe yes its fast but theirs a price to pay for that, buying new parts every month because somethink else has gone wrong, where as the seh might be slower then the xe but u will enjoy it more because your able to drive it more, since it won't be getting repaired all the time lol

The people that moan about the 16v blowing up all are the time usually spend 12 hours a day smashing it off the limiter. They only blow up all the time if they are built by a monkey and are driven around at 5600000000rpm with no oil, an ive seen this happen hundreds of times.

Exactly/\
The c20xe is NOT an unreliable engine.

If people have unreliable ones, then its down to it just being a tired engine etc.
Plus things like engine looms will start degrading over time(and seeing as the youngest xe is about 15years old now) you can expect problems.
