how many mpg are you getting from your 1.2 8v's?
as some of you may know that over the past few months iv been having problems with my mpg on my 1.2 8v,iv had it in the garage on put onto a machine to look for any problems and came back with non and the fellas at the garage also changed my fuel filter to see if it could have been that whats causing the problem, and was told to brim my petrol tank up and do 100miles and then go brim it again and take note of how many litres it takes to top it back up and then work out how many mpg i am actually doing.
ok then iv done that and was stunned on what mpg iv been getting so here it is.....
18.36mpg shocking
22p a mile
so is there anyone on here with a totally standard 1.2 8v that could tell me what they are getting out of there car and would also like if ppl with slightly modded 1.2 8v's let me know what your getting.
also the mechanic says he has had a few ppl in the garage haveing there fuel consumption checked over over the past couple of weeks and found nothing wrong,is it possible for petrol stations to tamper with the petrol?iv filled up at 2 different garages and have been getting the same problem.
my cars is getting put onto the machine again on friday and is getting another good look over, hope they find the problem.

what size wheels did you have on your car mate?
iv only got a magnex backbox with a remus straight through pipe with 16's on,i did consider the 16's been the problem due to having more drag on the car but i was getting this problem with my car before i fitted them so im

Something seriousluy wrong mate if your doing that. Sure you not loosing fuel? Tried new plugs. Take it on a long drive at high speeds to give it a clear out and pour redex or any form of cleaning agent (like 80) so its quiet revvy and then do the test again

Take your plugs out and see what they are like - take a photo and upload! They can tell a story!

Yep i sorted it, replaced rocker cover gasket....
And then sold the car Now get 40mpg min from a 1.4 C2 Furio
Stuff i found when trying to fix it were plugs, filters, sensors etc....and how heavy your right foot is. Weather plays a bit part too in the winter, cold engine means more petrol.
What time of day are you driving ?
Do you do a long journey or lots of stopping and going ?

i wouldnt say my right foot is really heavy tbh,i leave for work at 6.45am in the morning and finish at 4.20pm and my place of work is only 3 miles awaybut surely i still shouldnt be getting as low as 18.36 mpg no matter how cold its is ect,the garage says they will be checking everything again on friday including sensors ect.

Ask them to carry out an emmisions test..
Also just try replacing your coolant temp sensor, they arent expensive and would be a good place to start
