Right, after a lot of heatgun, tar remover, paint stripper action and a SHITLOAD of sanding the rear is stripped and ready for paint

The spare wheel well was rusty around the drainage holes so I rubbed it down and brushed some hamerite rust protecting/preventing/treating paint over the spare wheel well floor as this is going to be covered by the spare steelie. If I can find a GSi wheel on ebay I'll have that as a spare when I get some cash

some work in progress pics, enjoy:

Cheers

Takes about half hour with a heat gun, then the hard part is the glue

Started with tar remover from autoglym which helped but didn't do a great deal, then paint stripper. was a bit messy but it did the job. Sanding took about 3 hours. to get it to the finish you see in the pics. Started with a course paper then finished on fine.

I thought you was going with rear seats for practicality or has there been a change of plan?

Saved quite a bit of weight out of the back.

Looks like it was a bit of effort. I did mine in 15 mins and it was easy. Really clean finish afterwards too. Bit of tar remover to clean up and job was done.

I was suprised how much the sound deadening weighs though, I had a carrier bag full that much have been 5-7.5kg's.

yeah mate... just trimmed it were it drops down to the tunel straight across the car. then put rear mats in to make it look tidy so you can just see the cut over the tunel

That looks awesome! Haven't got the tools to remove the seat fixings

That looks like a real pro compressor job mate, mine will be done with rattle cans which I'm pretty good with although will not look as good as a compressor.

Need to find another cavvy gsi wheel now

Is there not a lot of wires left hanging about though under the seats, boot carpet?

Have been thinking of doing this for a while, started doing it in my other corsa but never got too far, due to buying this one lol.

What you see in the pics is what is under the boot floor/rear bench obviously with the sound deadening removed.
