im thinking of getting my first sat nav.
I've never ever looked at any of them, but heard mixed things about different ones.

in my head im thinking tom tom or garmin, but no nowt about any sat nav.

Can anyone recommend a fairly decent one? ideally under £150, and ideally with speed camera detection, although nethier absolutly necessary.

I have the Navman S50 and used it all weekend for the first time. I really can't fault it, well worth the £130 in Tesco. Has all that speed camera lark too, even Red Light cameras and Average Speed ones.

Or you can get the 520, 720 or 920 with them preloaded. I only mentioned the Tom Tom Go as it is the cheaper unit.

Tom Tom ones are bloody useless...unless you fancy a sat nav system putting you 100 or so miles out of your way lol

In the Uk, I would suggest getting an old fashioned map out and then using a sat nav for the last 10 miles or so to find the post code.

think im gonna buy the 910 off Ebay tomorrow for £150 unless anyone has a good reason not to get the discontinued model?
By the looks of it, its just been superseeded by the 920 which is retailing at £350.

So long as i can update the maps, the 910 looks like last years high end model.

totally dont trust the speed camera warnings on them, we were sat in work once having our lunch and someone had satnav sat on the table, suddenly lit up saying that we were approaching a speed camera

I ended up going for a cheap medion 510t from ebay for £60 which was cheap for a gps back then. The software is really good on that, but if you prefer the tomtom software, you can just install it as it uses WinCE.
You can also install other WinCE applications etc providing you have the meeeggabyttes!! A little work required but I guess tomtom's are pretty cheap nowadays.
