Hi, I drilled the bottom of my air box out today... now if you put your foot straight to the floor, it like bogs down asif it's getting too much air now???
Is this ment to happen? lol, if not, why has it done it??

lol, i drilled 4 holes with a hole cutter... they wont fill back in! lol
How come people drill them then?? :S
And wouldn't it do the same with a cone filter??

I drilled mine out last weekend and it hasnt done what yours has just makes it sound like it has done what yours has. but if they are just big holes then that could be different, mine are just small holes. prob better just gettin a new box from a scrappy

Which side did you drill? you need to drill nearest the wing.
Its bogging down because its sucking hot air from the engine.
My k&n used to do the same.

i drilled mine with a 19 hole cutter, i do get lowt down rev problems, but im hoping its just the spark plugs and leads

im thinking about doing this on my 1.0 12v with a k&n panel filter..
its only my day to day car but i just want abit more sound from it, is this a bad idea on a 1.0?

On my 12v, I've had 2 airboxes, both drilled and derestricted, one with big holes and one with small and my car has never bogged down or had any problems with either airbox.

id only put a few small holes in it to be safe anyways as ive heard the 12v likes backpressure and doesnt like things done to the engine..
think a k&n panel filter with drilled air box and a backbox should help it sound abit more respectable..

Disconnect the battery for an hour to reset the ecu.
Connect the battery back up and drive the car round how you would normal drive on a daily basis for about 20-30mins.
Problem sorted.
Also you shoud do this after any engine mod.

ignore that completely, 'resetting' the ecu just clears possible stored fault codes and allows the TPS and ICV to reset to their new positions, it does not affect engine mods whatsoever. To reset the icv and tps you must leave the ecu unplugged for an hour and refit it, start the engine using no throttle and let it idle for a minute by itself.
wont make any difference though.

Well it worked fine on my cav, corsa, astra, astra gsi turbo and a lot of other cars and my dads mate who has been a vauxhall technician for 35 years told me to do that.

so you were told by a vaux tech that disconnecting your battery for an hour allows the engine to recognise modifications if you drive round 'normally' for 20-30 minutes?
