*Sorry for the essay, but im desperate now*

I seriously need to find a car I want to keep, Ive had roughly 25 cars in just over 3 years of driving, I always sell them with an excuse, costing me too much to run, boring, too slow, want something bigger, want something smaller, too old etc. I just cant seem to keep a car. At the moment ive got a 1999 Vectra SRi V6 which feels too old and rattly and noisy after my Mondeo TDCi, I really liked my mondeo but sold it to my brother as he was starting on the Taxis, but I dont really want another one unless it was a better model (out of price range)

Ive set aside roughly £5k to spend, dont really want to go over that (although I would go a few £££ over for the right car)

I want something thats newish, doesnt look boring, doesnt drive boring, doesnt cost a fortune to run, doesnt have to be fast aslong as its nippy etc I just need something to keep now as im sick of swapping cars every 5 minutes!

Been looking at these and it varies so much I dont know what I like

BMW 3 series - Bog standard for my price range and would probably want a diesel in it.
Astra Coupe
Golf TDi - Boring? How much are the GT TDIs?
Clio 172 - I think I may not want too keep it (see above about Vectra)
Focus ST170 - Heard their not all that?

That will do for now... please help!!!

Clio 172, 182. Drive one and I'm sure you'll be hooked.

That was also an option, but I dont think I could get one with all the goodies for £5k? And whats the point in a Lexus without full leather etc

Edit: Just looking at them now on PH and they are quite inside, even with half Leather/Suede

Could get a 172 though and still one hell of a car! When driving normally, they can get 40mpg which is fecking awesome for such a quick car! They aren't rattley either surprisingly.

Rover 75
Can get one with all the toys for under 5 grand. that includes climate control, heated leather, electrics all round, cruise control, and if you get a diesel it has the BMW engine.

My dad has a 1.8 petrol, Not a spot of bother bother out of it, and people have even mistaken it for a Jag :O.

Really dont like Rover 75s, wouldnt even consider one, look old and dont like the look of them, id rather have a S-Type Jag but ive had the big comfy cruisers and there just not fun enough to drive, too wallowy.

ST170's are a bit 'plain jane' imo.

I don't think the lexus would be very rewarding to drive either but better than the vec you have now.

The STs are nice inside though, I dont want it too sporty outside like the vec is, just after a nice all round car, but I dont want it bland, wheeltrims etc.

I drove an 04 plate 182 today and it didnt impress me much, felt really revvy but lacked power although it handled brilliantly, Im still unsure though as it didnt seem looked after at all so I dont know if it was just that one I didnt like? If that makes sense...

Another place wouldnt let me test the ST170 until I sorted a deal out and done all the paperwork so I could drive it away, I said im lookin to pay cash but not considering till ive drove this and a Clio 172/182, but he was having none of it Loved it though inside and out, had full leather recaros etc

Found an immaculate 172 in Navy, like it but I prefer the wheels and exhaust on the 182, but again they wouldn't let me test drive it as they get people coming to test cars and then dont buy them which is a stupid excuse.

Edit: Forgot to say, drove an IS200, boring and interior was too fussy.

ST170: funish, but in terms of long term comfort etc, probably best.

172/182: more fun, but could get tiresome if planning to keep for a long time.

That is just my opinion of the cars anyway

ive driven 172s/182s and st170s. in a nutshell the st felt quite a bit slower but the steering was amazingly direct and handled just as good as the clio. imho there was no difference in build quality. i would have the clio, but then i do work for renault.

Yeh here you go mate. Hes wanting about £7000

Selling this for a mate. So any questions contact his number at the bottom of the page.

For sale. Ford Focus st170, excellant condition and low mileage. Its a ex ford direct car, so was a ford rep car before being sold on by a dealer. The dealer being Dunfermline Autocentre, it was bought by one of the Ford mechanics who is the current owner. The car is the full spec, with every option available for the focus.
Heated leather recaros, Air con, 6 disc cd changer, Subwoofer as standard. Many more.
The car has full ford service history and is in exceptional condition. The only bad point about the car is the wheels, they could really do with being painted. But they have just had 2 new tyres, all 4 tyres are 195/40/17 toyo t1-r. It has also just been mot, so comes with a full years ticket. Mileage is 44000.

Iv written what i know about the car, anymore questions Phone this number.

I think the exhaust was blowing and it seemed battered and rattly, it was in good nick outside but just seemed well used, also it just didnt feel quick at all, not what I was expecting anyway.

172's 182's you need to work it hard to get it to go fast, mine still doesn't feel fast.

My one and from what i've heard everywhere apart from on here they aren't that well put together, everythings not as tight as it is in a better quality car.

Ask on here though andyou get replys like the best interior they've ever had in a car etc.
