Has gone on my 55 plate Corsa 1.3 CDTi 
Thats why my EML is on. Makes me think how it's been driven by the previous owner. It's knocking when the clutch is pushed in.
Haven't even got it dropped of yet 
Anyone ever heard of these ''going'' before?

The car is still under warranty.... 55 plate, setpember 1st is when they were out, wasn't it?

Something like that. Yeah it's still under warranty, getting fixed as we speak.
Just a tad worrying, I thought they were meant to last the life of the car.
It's already been re-called for the ABS

All corsa c's 2005 or 2004 onwards have to do that recall.... not had mine done yet, but vaux sent me a letter.

When you make as many engines as they have there are going to be manufacturing defects that get past QC. Has nothing to do with how the car has been driven.
You can almost give a modern engine as much death as you like these days and they will take it. Common testing happens where the engine is run bouncing off the limiter for 30 days straight on randomly selected engines off the line. I've had one of these engines - made by Ford - apart before and they look brand new.

Some companies spray the engine with salt water, mud, rain water, dust and other rubbish for good measure during the testing.

I didn't spend 4.8k on a derv for it to go wrong every 5 minutes. I only bought one because my boss has one, hes done over 50k in it, hasent serviced it, does 70 miles a day on the motorway @ 100 odd mph, and has 103,000 on the clock and it hasen't missed a beat. So they must be realiable

I only had one sensor go in the time I had my 1.3 and was replaced under warranty, not 'plenty of things'.

i bought a 6 month old 1.3 and had it 2 years and it had 37k on the clock when some 1 crashed into me and wrote it off, in that time it on1y had a drivers side arb droplink and a new altonator, all done under warrenty.

To be fair Dual Mass flywheels are a common problem on any car that has them, generally people replace them and the clutch at the same time.
It kind of cancels out the fuel economy when the repair bills start to get more expensive though.

yeh the flywheels were an issue on certain c's based on a chassis number break point.
all that happens is that in the flywheel they have rubber weights to absorb the vibrations from the engine when clutched engaged. the rubber weights can shift up and down due to centrifugal force , and when the flywheels go wrong, all that happens is the rubber weights stick and dont move centrifugally whch causes a wank bad vibration.
