tbh all the ford boys would wank over it if it had a cosworth lump in it and its about as safe as driving a car with no doors and windows and its still a Ka at the end of the day imo

My mate has a KA and done 30k motor free problems.

He doesn't look after it, drives if flat and but just keeps on going. Until recently not even been serviced. At 30k it's had new brake pads and some new rubber which is ecpected at 30k or less.

I had a p reg ka with only 42k on it and i had nothing but problems with it, kept cutting out and not turning back on for about half an hour, found out from some people that apparently its quite common in them and cost me nearly £300 to get it fixed!

Luck of the draw in that case id say, I bought a Rover 400 with 60k on it and the gasket popped on the way home, 3 weeks later the gearbox went, my mates got one had it for 3 years now and hasnt had a single problem with it worth mentioning and his is on 110k now. (totally off topic but just an example)

coil packs go down on the later ones, cylinder 2 and 3 spark plugs trace, look for a purple spot on the ht leads. Means they are the later leads.. Older ones have problems with rot on the plugs so they snap in the head, drop links and lower arms bushes go (all ford's have this problem lol) gear selector shaft oil seals go, easy fix. Big tip if you change the pollen filter do not put the screw closest the wing just in the scuttle panel as soon as the wind screen gets hot it will crack trust me... Oh and if you slam the ankers on they have a tendency to cut out due to the vackume demand on the inlet manifold. They also had problems with the icv.. Hegos go down on there heating circuit, and interiors are just crap lol. Other than that they are noisy cars, the 1.6 street is crap looking but goes well, and they handle really well... Oh and lastly if its got ford alloys on it i garentie atleast one is buckled as they are a crap design!

Quieter than any corsa I have been in and nicer to drive than a corsa, missus has got one and I have driven it a few times.

Also probably safer than a corsa.
