I were being followed by police for no apprant reason last night - they were following stupid close for ages and i wasnt breaking the speed limit or anything. It really started to bother me as he wouldnt leave me so i slammed on in the middle of the road and got out and asked WTF ARE YOU DOING!
Anyways, he just saw a low car going stupid slow over bumps so hethought it would be fun to interigate me being on my own!
He was just trying to wind me up checking everything on the car!
He come up with 2 things.
No side lights and reg plates
I dont know the laws on sidelight and not really arsed tbh but its the plates that botherd me!
The car was mot-ed with the plates on with no questions asked as they meet the spec - IE readable from 15 meters - correct size and space aprart and the they dont miss enterprit what the registration mark is yet they are still illegal aprantly! I dont understand as how can it be illegal if it passed the MOT!
Not very good pic as i cba to go and take some but please look - they only thing i can see is they arent flat letters but he wouldnt tell me anything andit does meet the spec so....
Anyone had any problems?

dont think its the postcode thing, i think its the fact they are that 3d style lettering, which isnt legal. very petty i reckon.

What's all this about postcode? If I got some plain plates made up, they wouldn't technically be legal?

He were a cocky twat! About half my height but trys to come in your face! His 'partner' was lovely - looked like a lesbien but lovley gel who spoke to you correctly!
Why isnt it legal thou because it meets the MOT spec as far as im aware and if something is MOT it makes it road legal so whats the crack?

its only cars that are registered after 2001 that have to have postcode, bsau number, and manufacturers name. you cant fail them for having honeycomb effect before 2001 as i found out.

Only if the car is made after 2001 would this have been illegal, my calculator reckons that his car was made in 96

They can't fail the mot for plates atm, the police can still tell you to take them off though.

By the looks of it the only thing wrong is the font. Legally you do not have to have a postcode, only a marker mark.
Also, if the plate isnt retroreflective its illegal too (but i cant tell from that picture)

I highly doubt you actually did "slam on" and get out and shout at them, otherwise you'd probably have more problems to worry about than your ugly number plates
As someone mentioned, they were probably doing their job and just checking all your details and wanted to pull you over to double check. Nothing wrong with that.

Wavertree Car Centre where I bought my car put these 3d plates on all cars, I bought mine with them on and it passed a strict private hire MOT test.
