Purchase Ducati Desmosedici RR for £40,000
Go to track day.
Let NOVICE rider out on his FIRST track day, on your Ducati.
Watch as he bins it down the road.

Now this COULD be a write off as the rear swinging arm/frame is damaged. This usually means a write off, but Im sure they will "polish" it out.

Caption Competition????
Shoulda gone to specsavers?
Im about to get bummed by my EX mate

Im sure that for £40,000 you can nowadays buy a method of transport that wont fall over when left unattended?

its got a few scratches in paint no way is that going to be written off.
Fair enough they are carbon panels and the seat unit is a self supporting carbon item and will no doubt cost a bomb to replace but it wont get written off.
Imagine finding that as a cat d damage repairable!!!

£40,000 for an almost exact replica of the moto Gp bikes used only a couple of years ago. Cheap if you ask me
How much does a road going f1 car cost to buy... oh thats right you cant get one.

Seems so I can point you in the direction of a £70,000 road bike if you want?
Ian, yeah, mainly cosmetic, not actually THAT bad, depends how cr4ppy the insurers would be with regards to the frame. But I for one would not let them write it off for that.
Quite a few grand at the very least to replace the panels, plus anything else.

Ian the forks alone are about 7K if they are bent etc..then not only are the parts going to be expensive, they are difficult to source. If the bike is written off then a replacement will be hard to source. Ducati won't be making more for insurance claims. Don't forget the sum of the parts is worth more than the bike usually. I once read a standard Kwak 636 was worth £20,000+ in spare parts if you had to build one from new, with dealer parts prices.

Looks to slow an impact to have bent the forks.
Its the replacement carbon (price from Ducati) that will be the killer.

It looks like a really low speed low side so i doubt any major structural damage like the forks being bent will have happened.
Ducati prices for parts are expensive anyway let alone for a desmosedici! will cost ALOT to repair but wont get written off.

Not actually on sale yet, where-as the Ducati has been out for over a year already.
As for people saying £40k on a bike.
Errrr but spending £1+ million on a McLaren F1 or Bugatti is fine. PRESPECTIVE PEOPLE What about £250,000 on a Ferrari F40, made in the 80's. Thats just a shell, carbon, big engine???
200bhp on a bike weighing 160-170kg odd, well, errr good byeeeee 95% of road cars made, EVER!! Carbon brakes, top components.
Basically a 990cc motoGP bike de-tuned for the road (Ex MotoGP were making around 240-250bhp).
MV Tamborini costs around £70k, and thats just a fancy looking MV Augusta, it wouldn't touch the RR Ducati.

That's fair comment but you'd think the kind of people who spend 40K on a bike already have a decent car and can afford to splash out on a fancy toy.
I wouldn't have thought it would be their only form of transport.

I'd be quite happy to drive a £500 sh1tter if I could have a £40k RR.
Mind you, i'd drive a £500 shitter if I could have a Benelli Tornado LE as well.
Guess its how desperate you are to stay in a cage
