quote: Will Smith's ten year old son Jaden is to play the lead in the remake of 80s classic The Karate Kid.
The I Am Legend actor's son will star in the new version of the 1984 hit, and will follow the original story of a bullied youth learning to stand up for himself thanks to the help of an eccentric mentor with baffling training methods.
The film will be transported from the original's American setting to Beijing. the star's dad, Will Smith, is producing the film with Columbia Pictures.
The original movie starred Ralph Macchio as the titular hero, and spawned three sequels. The fourth instalment, The Next Karate Kid, starred future Oscar winner Hilary Swank.
Jaden Smith made his debut alongside his father in 2006s The Pursuit of Happyness. He will next be seen in the forthcoming sci-fi remake The Day The Earth Stood Still.
What do people think, personally I think they should let old classics lie, instead of bringing them back and butchering them.

The question Will Smith and the team producing it ask themselves is 'will it make us money?'
The answer is.....'yes'.

that would be shit. it needs to be an elderly guy that looks the quiet type. if it were chan or jet-li then it would be about training a kid to kick peoples arse rather than self defense.

What a shambles.
I had Karate Kid and Karate Kid II on Sky+ for a while. The first one is the best.

Originals are sh1t. I've actually seen more Karate from Ross in Friends apart from gay 1 footed Streetfighter 2 style kick.
New one is meant to actually have some martial arts. Jackie Chan is a ledge too.
Talk about pre-emptive opinions 2 years previous eh boys

Jaden Smith is a geat little actor aswell, he'll do very well over the next 5 years or so. I'll have a hunt around tonight for a good rip of this and give it a watch.

Pffft, the originals aren't meant to be Oscar winners or anything. Its called sentiment. Films we grew up with. They should be left well alone. They'll be remaking E.T. next
