my first son is very poorly
got admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties and not keeping food down
feel so helpless that i can't help him, but he's in good hands now
he's being tube fed - which i don't like seeing
he's been tested positive for bronchiolitis

hope he's ok mate, got my 1st, a week old daughter here, every time i hear a noise in the night the light is on, i didnt think id be like that but you cant help worrying can you?

yeh i know, if ur a bloke who says he doesn't cry, have ur first child and anything thats bad for them can bring u to tears

Both mine had bronchiolitis in their first year, it's hard to diagnose babies as asthmatics at a young age, my eldest was ok after a few days we just gave her the inhalers and it passed but my youngest had it for a few weeks, weeziness and coughing flem up, hope your little one bounces back pretty quickly.

i know, just home to sort washing etc out, mrs still there, she hardly had any sleep last 3 nites, he just crying and moaning most of the time
they reckon he could be there for at least a week

Hope he recovers quickly Gav, not much more you can do cept for be there for him. I'm sure the doctors/nurses are taking good care of him and hopefully he'll be home soon

well he's still in, got worse now
had another x-ray, got fluid on the lungs so on antibiotics now
plus the doctor sent him for an ECG due to murmer on the heart - still waiting for result on that
the staff are useless - they have too many patients so he gets left for over an hour for medication and feeds, bloody useless they are
gonna be complaining when he's finally out

Its easy to feel like this mate and they probably feel the same themselves but they do the best they can do
Just hope he gets wel soon mate,

i know, but shouldn't they get more staff if they can't cope with keeping to times for medication and fedding - he's tube fed so they do it

yep they should and the nurses themselves would prob be 1st to agree with you mate, but unforntunetly thats the NHS for you and they have to work long hours underpaid and worked off there feet, and 99.9% positive they have you little boys wellfare at heart just as much as you chin up bud

My misses nephew had this when he was a similar age. 12 months on, he a strong boy and you'd never know he was ill. Was a horrible time but don't worry, he's in the best hands

I know exactly how you feel with the hospital staff, my wife somehow developed a blood clot on her lung about 2 years ago and they were abysmal. Several times people on her ward were pressing the alarms and nobody bothered to come, they were all stood around the reception area gossiping and laughing. One night my wife was in excrutiating pain and was ringing her alarm to get help and eventually one of the cleaners came to her!! On the other hand my gran was in a different hospital and the care she recieved was fantastic.

NHS branches are in individual budgets. Some hospitals even have to share budgets with other trusts, so that overal means less staff and poorer hospitals.
Take that budget, now cut it by another few millions (cheers Labour), spread that out over a whole hospital over a year, and it means financial hell.
If viable, and you can afford it, go private, vastly better service.

I was in and out during the first year of my boy's life, it's a skary time but he will pull through. Stick by mum and make sure she is ok too. The doctor's and nurses will do a good job im sure
