So we have officially come out and said we are bidding for the 2018 World Cup. Given our stadiums, sound transport infrastructure, ability to handle the high number of tourists, one of the best stadium policing reputation in recent years and the amount of time since we last held it I think we should easily get it......but I bet we dont!

Of course we won't, some random country will get it because of some political issue!

Spain/Portugal, Holland/Belgium, Russia, Australia and Qatar are said to be in the running too. Plus China, USA and Japan may submit bids too.

Spain has been full of trouble for the last few years, the policing is shite and fans are constantly getting done for racist behaviour. So I expect FIFA will pick them.

I meant the decent state of airports and the huge number of decent quality hotels. Not our ability to handle a mix of Scots/Spurs fans.

Nah I'm as Scottish as a pet haggis wearing a kilt and swigging Irn Bru then sticking the head on his next door neighbour.

True that.

Wembley
OT
Emirates
St. James
Stadium of Light
Villa Park
Anfield - Current or new
White Hart Lane - Current or new
CoM
Stamford Bridge

Even fringe stadiums like:

KC
Riverside
St.Marys
Ricoh Arena
Reebok

Not to mention new stadiums in the pipeline:

Portsmouth
Everton
Olympic Stadium

We could hold the WC twice over

p.s. I realise IVI is probably being a joker.

How the fuck can Qatar host it, is there enough space in the whole country for more than one stadium

On a side note, I hope England don't get it. Just because I am an evil Scottish badger muahahaha

We are re-doing our Kop at the end of this year, so our capacity will be just over 40k.

McCabe wants us to host some WC matches

Also, Hillsborough is a good size ground (40k) and hosted matches in 66. Just a bit-run down

The problem with a lot of these older stadiums is that they dont meet the FIFA guidelines for hosting international matches - mostly that the pitch size isnt and cant be made the min sizes. I know this is the case for the current Anfield.
