Well, i was always a fan of Rota wheels, thought they were good quality and all that...but i've just been shown this...and its pretty worrying tbh!!

Dodgy Rotas

I've seen Rotas used by alot of motorsport teams and on some high performance features in the likes of Banzai...so they cant be that bad!

Its the before and after ring pics that worry me!!

yea thats what i thought tbh...dont see how that can happen. I would have thought it would just break!...

there is no way the wheel could get to the heat where it can do that, and not just become a mess on the floor...

the amount of replica wheels out there i can't even remember who make the originals in some cases, its only the style thats copied, if they're made from shite thats a different thing altogether, if they're made well then who's arsed

straight from the horses mouth at compomotive

Schmidt copied the TH line from the compo turbo, but it still doesnt stop it being one of the most famous wheels ever

i have rota slipstreams atm, and tbh, i think the broken ones have had a huge curbfest from the side...

Im not scared, if i whack a curb that hard, they deserve to snap

The twisted one looks like a shop

You don't know what they've been through. I've seen OE wheels fail if they're hit hard enough.

Can't explain the twisting though. Particularly as they must have also lengthened as they twisted.

Hence my post, i mean for instance, if you slammed into a curb with a side on wheel at 50 + im sure the majority would smash to pieces

its not like the damage show to the above have been becaue of a small pothole is it now?

Also the reason I changed the wheels on my last Astra was that I bent the OE ones.

Went in for a service, came back the guy says we've had it on a ramp and both n/s wheels have a buckle on the inside lip. Front one was worse than the rear but they back had a visible bend in them.

I ran some on my astra with 205/40/17 tyres, potholes weren't my friends at all, infact neither were pebbles
