They're both crap IMO. Norton takes up about 30% resources all of the time, and the last McAfee I used was the same. Don't limit yourself to these two, because you don't have to even pay for anti-virus software.
Try AVG Anti-Virus, or Avast. Both 100x better than the above, and both are free and used by a lot of people. I personally have Avast right now.

Un-install it and download AVG Free. It's fine for your average user...

I wouldn't bother with either tbh, the free AV programs are just as good if not better.

Both are shite.
You'd be better with AVG, Avast or Kaspersky.

I would definatly reccomend Kaspersky I got mine as a free full version offer as I'm a barclays customer, still think it's going.
But the free ones avast and avira are not bad definatly would not use avg as it nearly killed my computer.

Norton is the worst anti-virus program available and McAffee is barely any better.
AVG has been rubbish since 8.0 came out.
Get Avast. It's free.

Avast is currently rated as the best free-AV at the moment. I currently use it and i've noticed that it uses a lot less resources that AVG, has picked up a few things AVG didn't and generally seems a little quicker at scanning.

Neither, download a free one unless you like 99% of your machines resources being used up

Spyware Doctor is paid for iirc? Spybot is a good Anti-spyware program, and is free.
You will notice barely any performance difference with a registry fixing/cleaning program, you are more likely to do damage to the registry, which you really don't want.
