right im 90% of the wqay to getting a remap now, my only worries are the weak links like the standard turbo and clutch, will they really handle the extra 50+bhp and 50 more ft/lbs?
how can I look after them more, the standard 18k service interval will be ditched for 8 - 10k oil changes.
the clutch is a dual mass I have no idea what that means but it sounds expensive

Is it 130 std? extra 50 bhp will kill it in no time imo. I would upgrade the clutch before remap.

Do you mean the flywheel is dual mass?
I can only comment based on golfs a Dual mass flywheel is expensive so most people modify a g60 one to fit. Not sure on how much the fiat ones are though but i can't see it wrecking the flywheel.
The clutches on the golf diesels have a tendency to start slipping after a remap but most of them have done onsiderably more than 18k.
Doubt I've helped you much at all tbh

A bit of mechanical sympathy and Im sure it will be fine y'know!! You dont have to kill it everywhere. The extra oomph will only be used now and again really, its the midrange and driveability that will improve so wringing its neck to the limiter for ever horse power wont be necessary!
You will be fine!!!

Its never really ragged anyway, I dont really go over 3k in it, yesterdays RR printout shows it makes most at 3500,
is the clutch only under strain when setting off? I dont really do drag starts cause 1st is shit, I only want the power for 3rd and 4th gear over taking and joining motorways

Whats other peoples experience on the Fiat forum? They might say its not a problem.
I've gone through all this and I'm too bothered about the clutch with all the extra torque.

one person hes a member off here had a catastrophic faliure of his turbo and thus his engine, he was nly 1 of many, no one else has said a bad word
they all buzz off the better driveability, smoother delivery better MPG ect

If you want to use and drive the car then no you can't prolong the life of a turbo and clutch

I know you are meant to but I wouldn't tell insurance about a remap. Bugger it, they cant see it and you'd be very unlucky for them to find out it had it
