A mate wants to start a small hand car wash business. He wants to use a run down garage as the location as that's what other hand car wash business use in his area.

But he cant just go there and start the business. So how then?

why not approach a local (large) car park?
Take up 10-20 spaces, pay the council for those spaces each day and offer a valet service inc free parking.

Theres a little more too it, than just getting land if he wants to start a proper business. He would need to do everything legit, ie. register the business, pay tax on his earnings, get insurance incase he damages a car while washing it and probably loads more.

He might have more luck, doing a door to door service.

will_doyle - If it's actually you, why the hell did you find it necessary to claim it's a mate who's interested?! And doing it for a whole day, day in day out is a bit different to washing your's or your mum's car

hand car wash? are you an immigrant lol?

You need permission of the land owner to use the premesis and you will need some form of public liability insurance in place too. Also you dont need to become vat registered unless you take in more than £6000 a year.

Went past the best car wash I've ever seen in my life the other day, by tunnel road for those in Liverpool, 2 Nigerian fellas with the smallest BnQ type jetwash, a bucket and sponge with a big sign up saying "professional hand car wash", love it.
