Around 14th of march ish i took a trip up to grantham to collect my latest project:
Arden Blue 3 door
When it arrived
Then i stripped the lump down to check for any wear or breakages,
Bores looked to be in good nic
So i ordered a shedload of rebuild parts and tools
oil pump, water pump, clutch, new bolts, top end gaskets, bottom end gaskets
Painted the block silver
Bought a lightened flywheel and got the crank lightened and balanced:
Then did a bit of a roadtrip with pow to get pickfords 15" steels and i promised him a project thread
Then today i had an afternoon spare so threw the lot together
More pics to come shortly

an update
Last weekend we threw the clutch on and the box on and got the lump in
however i missed a certain corsa standard mount which is what i went hunting for at PVS, and then realised i had one in the garage anyway, doh! nonetheless on thurs the 11th at about 2231 the xe finally stood on its own legs in the engine bay
Modified rear mount
Then today i went to town on it:
Inlet
Exhaust manifold
I did fit this driveshaft but forgot to take a pic
Was greeted by this on the other side
and even worse news the passenger side shaft looks to be too big as after fitting it protruded this much from the hub and the suspension would not line up at all, no matter how much levering it would do, yes it was fitted properly into the box and i did try to tighten the castle nut but it wasnt having any of it, so the pas wheel now looks like this
positive camber anyone?
Then i threw the tank on
and had a tantrum with it all, will be back tomorrow no doubt cursing the bloody thing,

Update time:
Headlights fitted and oil cooler fitted with thanks to pirtek hoses and joint bit things
pretty close to the bumper bar eek
the bumper was then proper trimmed to fit the oil cooler behind, my mate josh did this with a stanley knife
Once that was done i fitted the comedy air horns:
threw the fuel pump in with that bastard round metal clip thing which destroyed my fingernails
fitted all of the bottom hoses into the back of the tank (yes that hose was dealt with and not left dangling)
ICV was fitted but the wiring needs extending as it didnt reach very well
then i got a bit bored and had a play with a rattle can
josh got even more creative with the stanley knife
sorted the M-tec gear linkage with the help of the haynes manual (ooft thats a short throw)
fitted a new bottom ball joint
it had new discs and pads and calipers even though it didnt really need the discs or pads,
(cba with paint the wheels will hopefully hide it anyway)
fitted my supposedly bodged coilovers which were welded so are basically like normal coilovers now but apparently its bodged
then used the rattle can to do a bit of rustproofing
before:
after:
then as ever bad light stopped play but we finished up with it looking like this its starting to look like an actual car now and i really want it to get to trax, we shall have to see.
thanks for looking
