to beating seven shades of shit out of the corsa today.
So close to being finished.
As some of you may know, i removed the sunroof, fitted a cage & have left it like that for a year now.
So, i needed something to fill the space, tried a few different options, and decided to try a carbon sheet.
Got it custom made, good size, looks good.
Its a flat sheet, fair enough, i was sure i'd be able to get a bit of a bend on it to get it to sit flush.
So off i pop today, grab some black tiger seal & measure up, slap the tiger seal on, flip it over & slap it on the roof, lined up perfect, all was well.
Untill i tried to get the fucker to stay down.
As we speak the car is in the garage covered with sandbags & loose sand.
No matter what i did, i just couldnt get it to sit right.
If i had some massive G clamps it may have been ok, but i didnt.
Where the bags line up i cant get them to sit flush so there will be spots where its sitting up.
I thought about ritvits, but that will just make it worse in the wavey stakes.
So, being the mans man i am, i picked up a bar & started shouting at the car then dropped it & locked up.
Severly pissed off & i have no doubt in my mind that the roof will be fucked now.
Moral of the story? spend more money, get a formed sheet, or rip the roof off & get a new panel in there. or buy a fucking car that doesnt have a sunroof to start with.
Sunroof FTmotherfunkingL.
Hmm, thought getting that off my chest would makle me feel better, it didnt, wheres that bloody bar gone?
Oh, and wanting to take some aggression out on the road on the way home just isnt the same in a 1.25 fiesta

Many times my dad has had to pull me back because it would of had the shit kicked into it.

Ok, yours is worse, but you gots to feel my pain. Just a finishing touch, everything else is spot on, ive spent alot of time trying to make it look pretty, and it looks like someone has came over, had a shit on the roof & threw a bit of carbon on top of it, then covered everything in sand.

Nearly everytime I work on a car, surprisingly I found fitting a new waterpump to my BMW was actually nearly fun

I love it when a bolt just refuses to loosen, then you get a big bar, slip it over the wrench & still wont budge, so you get pissed off, start jumping on the thing & eventually, ping, it slips off, swings back & beats shit out of your shin.
Awsome.

what did you use sealant wise?
And what did you use to weigh it down?
I'm finding i need to find four small round weights, that are heavy as hell for each corner, then lots of little square ones to do the straights, but i cant think of anything so small, yet a massive weight.

If any weight leaves the edge & goes into the centre of the panel (like the sandbags), the panel dips in the middle & rises at the edges, so im fighting a loosing battle.

ahhhhh, gotcha.
Couldnt see some 5g weights doing much like
I thought sandbags would be good as they are flexible, so should mould to the shape of the roof, but like i say, i cant get them tight up against each other, so there are gaps.
also one split as i lifted it & i now have sand everywhere.
nevermind, will have another crack next weekend.

I'll probs end up with rivits in each corner, or some sort of screw / fixing if i can find anything that doesnt look as rough.
I want anything else bar this fucking corsa

Not even tring to take the piss, what about some strong duct tape or similair? Push the carbon down with sealant/adhesive on it and 'stretch' the tape when you put it on so it holds it down tight.
I was doing this type of thing the other day at work, putting quite large bits of sheet metal sound deadening on a metal baseplate. I was using an epoxy type glue that said it was a method of 'cold welding' it was that good - and I'd agree. If you left it in the nozzle it turned to plastic. Could get the name of it on Monday.

Strong masking tape might work? That's what I was using and the baseplate was painted, that's heavy duty paint though. Not too clued up on paint and stuff like that, didn't think duct tape would take paint off!
