I went to collect my car from a local car park in Stonehaven, and I noticed an 09 plate Mazda 3 MPS parked behind it. I also noticed that all 4 windows were right down and there was no one sitting in the car. I felt the tyres & bonnet and they were stone cold, so i'm guessing it had been there for a while.

It had just started to rain, and I didn't want the guys nice leather/alcantara interior to get soaked and potentially ruined. Same with any of the electrics, so i rushed home and got a few bin bags and some masking tape to cover the windows with. I spent about half an hour covering all the windows, and making sure there were no gaps where water could run in, or no flaps where the wind would catch it. Not that it was too windy.

I phoned the police to inform them, and then told someone at the train station (as it was the train station car park) who got in touch with the CCTV controllers and got the camera right on the car to keep an eye on it.

Anyway, here is my handywork...

Now then Karma; where's my reward?

The windows were down, not smashed, so it hadn't been broken into. I'm guessing an electrical fault or a very dopey owner.

Really? I'm glad I did what I did because it started raining pretty heavy later and the interior would have been ruined.

Effort gone into that.

Can't imagine what I'd do if I came back to the car looking like that

Who would be that careless with a brand new car though? Possibly an unreported stolen and dumped?

I'm guessing they thought "Oh look, there's a lad taping up his car windows". You wouldn't drive past unawares and think it was someone elses car.

Probably an electrical fault by the way, used to happen on Audi A4's due to a faulty control unit

pmsl thats pretty funny

I probably wouldnt even have noticed never mind went to the extreme of going home for tape & bin liners!!

I would imagine its happened from the complete closure/open on the fob & one complete twit of an owner thats not got the full idea of using it....possibly a woman

I did actually leave a note explaining what i did and why. I also left my name and number just incase anything had been stolen and he needed more info from me, or a witness etc...

I very much doubt i'd get a reward, but a thankyou would be nice.
