potentially i guess so but i doubt there will be high numbers of many "classic to be" scrapped thus making those not scrapped rare and thus gaining classic status.
it will be interesting to know the estimated/predicted number of cars that will be scrapped under this scheme

As I've said, when people are scrapping old smokey fucked Volvo 2.0+ Turbo Estates there is no problem.

When people start scrapping classics (Escort RST's) and little cars (Corsa, 106, Punto) thats when the problem will occur.

I can't see 300,000 cars being scraped under this scheme in a year.

I don't see the logic in this really, if your still driving an old XE cavvy or something around then its either a)Because you want to or b)You don't have the money to go and buy a new car and I doubt 2k off the list price will make that much off a difference.

The scrappage scheme only applies to the first 100,000 cars sold under the scheme (or something).

Wrong. £300million funding = 300,000 new car registrations.

It won't make any difference to classics.

Soemthing isn't a classic because it's old and rusty.

i dont see the point...scrap a car to have a new one built? people that drive old cars are LEGENDS! say sumones been driving a car for a good 10 years...thats great...in that time someone else might have bought 5 new cars that are economical, its the bloke driving the "shed" thats "green"...waste of resources to scrap cars that work to make new ones. Its only thought about to sell new cars that arent normally selling

I can't think of more than 1 reason why little cars (Corsa, 106, Punto) are better than big turbo volvos.

Eh

Why the hell is scrapping little run arounds going to be a problem? They are plentifull, never going to be a classic.... and lots of them are prob in need of scrapping now to be honest (older ones... 1993 corsa's for example)

Does this scheme only apply to new cars, or can it be used in, say, a Network Q garage?

Has to be new and from the way I read it you have to be the first registered keeper so no pre-regs either.

First owner, but the car can be up to 12 months old.

And it's £1000 from the government and £1000 from the manufacturer; if they are participating.

I think its a big con, they'll give you 2k for your old scrapper but more than likely put the 2k on the price of the car your buying.. The government must think your thick
