I checked it 3 weeks ago and it was -£10

Checked my bank balance today was it was -£110

I didn't realsie that the bank charged you like £40 each week.

If I go to the bank can I ask them to freeze my account for a few weeks untill I get some money together?

Just arrange and overdraft with them, you'll then get charged interest as opposed to an unarranged overdraft fee. Try a sob story with them too and they may revoke the charges if you look sad enough

I'd say increase your overdraft limit so your safe, then when you got some money together then decrease the overdraft and so on.

Nah as normally the bank never phone due to fraud (that kinda thing) so best bet is to just get an overdraft to avoid anymore bank charges and go about paying it off then i'd say.

You don't have an overdraft thats why you were charged

You have been charged for an unauthorised overdraft.

They will write to you, once they have bummed some more charges from you.

Go down to the bank, and kick up a fuss about how unnacceptable it and you demand they reverse the charges.

I did that with 2 charges (£80) and got them both reversed.

not really no. it's up to you to check that. some banks give you an emergency overdraft to cover direct debits etc.

Most people don't know banks do this until the get dry bummed by them. It's an easy mistake to make, and a slight piss take that they charge you so much for going something as petty as 50p over. Just need to be careful!

Normally the bank will phone you first before writing, to ask why you have a negative balance on your account (assuming you don't have a proper overdraft).

I would advise you contact your bank as a matter of urgency and explain your predicament to them, if you have had a good relationship with them in the past they may credit the charges on the understanding that you credit your account with a minimum of £10.00 immediately - that, or arrange a temporary overdraft.

you obviously dont have an overdraft if they are charging you £40/wk for being over drawn

you need to get yourself an overdraft set up for say £100

so if you ever go overdrawn a little you wont get charged
