Feel for you mate
Was almost made redundant in November last year and the day before i spent half my savings on my car.
Dont worry, get down job seekers, get on to housing benefits and get it sorted today no worries, you'll find somewhere new soon

That's shit - but the only thing you can do is start looking for a new job pronto!
Bills to pay? Do some temping/part time work in the mean time until you get a new full time job. Don't bother with benefits etc. - trust me it's quite depressing going to the job centre and talking to people who class intelligent human beings the same as the chavvy dole scum that spend their lives trying to get out of working!
I'm self employed now but when I was working for other companies I was once made redundant from a job I was at for nearly 3 years so I know how shit you are feeling right now - but mate, chin up, things DO and WILL get better!

Last time i was made redundant i had a four week break in the sunshine and walked straight into a better job, dont see that happening again tho.
As soon as i left i went on the net looking but its either skilled jobs or management positions too high for me to apply as i was only an assistant manager.
Im going to phone to find out about what benefits i can seek, makes me sick as i hate scroungers.
I suppose i can always commit crime and live ina furnished cell for a few years

if you go on the doll your not scrounging, your taking what you are entitled to and what you have been paying into since you started work, took me ages to get on it but it does help you get by

You're on easy street now. Get down the job centre, get claiming for JSA, Housing benefit, Council tax benefit, etc. If you're desperate for cash you can get a crisis loan too and pay that back at something silly like £1 a week. Get on any training courses you can as they're all free now. Get booked in at the dentist, etc. ALL FREE

I started in retail at 15 and worked my way up and put a shit load of experience behind me so getting a management job in retail is pretty much my only hope. I could never work in a pub, i have an agressive side and drunk tossers would get a slap without a doubt.
What kind of things can i claim?
I need to help pay rent on this council property
Bills
Going to loose my NCB on my insurance as i can afford to keep paying it.

You'll be entitled to full housing benefit and full council tax paid for, assumign you live on your own. If you live with someone who works then you'll get half paid for.
Other bills like gas etc are you're problem and you have to pay for those best you can out of your £45 a week or whatever JSA is.
I'd look into a crisis loan to get you by. Every time we're goin on a large night out my mate goes and get a crisis loan for a few hundred You get them same day and like I said earlier, you pay them back at a silly low rate.

There's another one you can get too, I forget the name. Could be a Bridging loan.
Just go and ask down the job centre, or better yet GOOGLE IT

A friend of mine got one of these loans as he had to move flats and had no money to pay for removals, in the "what do you need the money for box" he also put some paint - he got 350 quid, for about 5 pound every 2 week payback. But they forgot and he has not paid any money back and had no demands for it a year down the line. Shame really as he did use the money for its intended purpose

Phone your insurance now and get them so send you evidence of your no claims bonus, that way if it does go tits up at least you have a certificate saying you NCB on it...
Do anything not to sell your car - I like it

The car will never be sold, it will be SORN and sit on my gf drive
But if i do not insure a car then surely my ncb will be lost
Or do other insurance companies just want to see the certificate?

Not totally sure TBH, perhaps someone would clear that up - Adrian Flux wanted a certificate from me anyway...

I'm pretty sure you need proof of your NCB but it remains valid for something like 2 years after you don't insure a car in your own name.
