IF i decide to get a motorbike i need another car to as the bike will be a toy just for weekends and nice days etc etc as i don't use a car for work.
I should have either 1K or just a bit over but i've never bought a car or even looked at cars for that amount of cash before and wondered what you can get nowadays for it.
Ideally it needs to be cheapish to insure..no hot hatches etc etc but somthing like an Audi A4? Vectra? Mondeo? I don't want a Corsa or small car and not somthing mega boring like a Astra 1.6 
Anyone got any suggestions??

a passat will go one million times round the world if its regularly serviced regularly, dunno the going price for them though. bound be to be acouple cheap

if you want a car for 1k don't be too picky... i.e no french...
nice xsara vts with 2.0 150bhp would be nice.

You can get latest shape 306's for sub a grand now, decent kit,aircon, electrics that kind of shit, 1.8's etc so not dog slow, handle well, look modern, can look well with a few tweeks if that way inclined.

I looked the other day, can get a 2001 Vectra 2.2 DTi CDX for £1.2k. Didn't cost any more to insure than my 1.6 Laguna when I got a quote.
Not too bad on fuel, big, plenty of comforts and options.
