christ, do you even get a discount for getting an annual? I think I worked it out once and there wasnt a discount or something shocking.

My train ticket costs 200 quid a month, and parking is 80 quid a month. All paid by work.

Nope.

I do get an interest free loan from work to cover it though.

Thing is, if they offered to reimburse or pay half, they would have to do that with everyone.

It costs everyone money to get to work, it's just unfortunate that my costs are extortionate.

Does the job pay over the odds because of this?

Well, it pays a lot but it's because of the industry rather than anything else.

There's no reason why they wouldn't employ someone that lives 30 seconds from the office on the same salary.

The annoying this is that the length of the commute doesn't really bother me at all, but the price does.

I am going to look at moving closer in 2010. Just want to make sure everything works out before I make that sort of commitment.

Yeh like willay said. Moving closer would pretty much even out what I take home every month because the rent increases about the same amount as the train ticket.

It would just be more convenient.

I currently live just outside Woking - will be getting the train from Brookwood to Waterloo.

Looking at moving to Clapham/Battersea to get the train from Clapham Junction to Waterloo.
