yes you remove the sandwich plate and remove the splined rod(allen key in the middle and loosen) then either write a wanted thread for a by pass pipe or go to vauxhall and buy one part number 90144360

Yes, most people block it off anyway when doing the conversion.
You should be able to get bolts from vaux that fit where the cooler would normally run too.

it will leave about 2" between the filter and the block
look at this pic
you need to remove no 20 anyway to remove the sandwich plate, the part number ive gave you is for a shorter version of no 20 this means you can just put a filter straight on without fucking about

Why can't you mount the cooler? I have fitted one on mine and noticed a big difference in temp when driving hard.

You don't have to bend them that much, Even if they did split you could custom fit some braided lines.
I made up a couple of brackets to mount my cooler.
I have always had coolers on my XE's and would never run without one.
If you have one with your engine use it, To not run the cooler you'll need to get the shorter oil filter thread if your engine is set up for the cooler.
Gaz cable tied his oil cooler to the front of his Vectra when running an XE, Bet that appeals to you and the bodge boy wonder
How's the conversion coming on?
If I get chance this weekend I can bob down if you like?

If i pop down on the weekend i'll show you the difference in oil temperature when you get airflow over the cooler.
When in traffic and warm my oil will sit between 180-200 celsius, When giving it a blast it'll drop below 160..
