My eyes are fucked. woke up this morning and could barely see anything

Going to get a eye check tommorrow... I'm now at work struggling to read text on my screen

this is quite concerning since my job revolves around typing things on computer screens and it's fairly important I can read it all so I don't make mistakes...

What would you do if you went blind and your main occupation required your eye sight?

i'd just go to the opticians. it could be a temporary thing that can be fixed by wearing a pirates patch for a few days. my cousin had a similar thing where there was something wrong with the muscles in one eye that stopped him from focusing on stuff. wore a patch for a few days and he was fine.

I'd be alright, the association for the blind has an office right next to our work so I'd knock their door and ask to borrow a dog

Got them checked today...

Basically left eye is actually fine, good vision, nothing wrong.

My right eye however has gone slightly short sighted...

However, also my right eye has a issue that is from when I was younger, that for some reason I've not noticed over all these years.

Basically, when I was alot younger I would get double vision as my right eye would relax and turn inwards slightly. As such I wore a eye patch which made that eye stronger and eventually got it working again, facing straight and problem solved.

However, what the guy was telling me today is that, the eye with that issue isn't quite aiming itself correctly. So infact it aims the light slightly in the wrong place on the back of the eye (hence it used to turn inwards, to correct this) and thus... I have a slight blind spot on my right eye where my central vision should be.

Basically it's hitting the 'non detail' focusing part of my eye, rather than the high detail centre called the macula. It tries to make up for this by scanning the area a lot, hence I get this weird grey / blotchy effect over shit and lack of detail on that eye (blind spot).

Nothing much they can do about that I think. However, the issue recently was the fact that my left eye was getting strained dealing with this and the fact that the right eye was essentially quite short sighted too!

Thus, I now have a pair of glasses to wear when driving / concentrating on work and thus the left should not get strained as much.

We'll see.

I still notice the blotchyness / blind spot with my right eye I guess.

He did something funky where when I covered my left eye (good eye), my right eye moved inwards to adjust itself trying to angle the light better... when you open the left eye again, the right goes back

Yeah that must of been what I had as a kid

'One test involves asking the child to look at an object, then covering the eye that normally fixes properly on the object and watching the other eye to see if it moves to take up fixation. If it moves, there may be a squint in that eye. But some squints are only apparent to an expert.'

The bloke did this today and that's exactly what happened.

I always get the gray blotchy dots. It's fucking irritating. I get blurred vision and a headache randomly sometimes aswell.
