Had a few requests to improve the amount of information that is available via the u2u system. Some of the requests include -
Being able to see how many unread u2us someone has.
Being notified when someone reads a u2u.
Being notified when someone deletes a u2u.
This has mainly come about because of people ignoring messages during problem trade sales. It's not difficult to program it so I was going to have a go. Just thought I would run it public first to see if there are any objections or further ideas before I make any changes.

I like the idea of being able to see if someone has read a U2U (which you currently have on weekendracer). I'm not sure if anything beyond that is necessary as you know that if someone reads something and doesn't reply their probably ignoring you.

It would help clear things up when it comes to classifieds.
Doesn't really matter what anybody else uses the system for, and see that they read a u2u / delete a u2u..... at the end of the day they can't read it so it's not much of a privacy breach.

Yes, a delivery report type system is all it needs.

Sounds like a good idea but I'll get aload of agg from it cause I do sometimes read u2us then mark them as unread and leave them for another time to be processed if I dont deem the urgent

Yeah the unread thing is an issue. Not sure quite how that would work.

Can't you make it so once it's been read it would sent the notification even if it has since been marked un-read? so it would essentially ignore the un-read command or whatever?

Replace it.
Once they've read it, they've read it....
Can you replace it with an urgent function. ( ! )

Fine by me. I tend to respond to all u2u's within the day anyway (unless there's a good reason for me not to have done)

Can't you not make it so it just says new U2U no subject or username who its from as some people may see who its from and then not open it due to oweing them moeny etc.
And then once its opened it shows who its from etc

Could notify as soon as the window is opened but that wouldn't necessarily mean the person has seen they've got one, if I'm away for a few days I'll generally have a few but I don't get around to them all at once.

Being able to see how many unread u2us someone has.
That's a no from me, just seems a little too personal.
Other two are a good idea.
