Could potentially get it seized and hefty fee to get it back

Thought it was a clause that your insurance was invalisd if you've got no tax.

depends on the officer. I was tought to put a red devil on, contact DVLA who'll arrange recovery....or just give traffic a ring and they come and get it seized.
Some officers will give you 7 days grace, some wont. Either way, youre committing an offence.

But Lynny, I don't think he'll have any opportunity for the 7 days grace, seeing as it is currently Sorned, rather than just not renewed?

Your pretty much right there, if you cant afford the tax, how are you gonna afford the petrol to drive around until next thursday?

when i was younger i got done for having no tax and then on another occasion i got done for using fragulant tax, i got raped with fines, there is no point driving without it tbh, if you get nabbed then you are looking at ££££££££ as it invlidates your insurence aswel. Keep it off the road for a week or borrow the money off someone to get it

You have mentioned the car is SORN - theres a fricking huge potential fine for driving a car that is SORN - not worth the risk imo - especially with all the ANPR cameras around these days

I've been pulled twice for declaring my car SORN and having no tax. I was in the same situation, a bit tight for money one month. Tax was £120 for six months. Got aggravated at the thought of paying all this road tax plus 65p in the pound on tax for petrol just for my car to get damaged by all the pot holes Anyway like I said I've been pulled twice and twice they never took my car off me. Infact I got to continue driving to my destination(Home from football the first time nd work the second time). Got a fine from the DVLA for £92. My advice is drive wherever the fuck you want with no tax mate. Better to have a little stupid, puney fine than quit your job because you have no money for road tax.

Can't afford to tax it, but is willing to risk the chance of a fine that could potentially be a lot more than the tax
If you can't afford to tax it, find another method of transport.

Although the fine should be more than the tax, you paid 2 £92 fines instead of just paying £120 and being legal
