Today she text me saying...
'I'm working on a new project. Basically my aim is to get a single in the charts by christmas next year' 
WTF?
ok, to get something 'in the charts' aint that hard, 40th probably doesn't require that many weekly sales, but wtf? This is so unlike my sister, does she plan on singing and dancing in it? Gonna be weird...
I don't want to put her off, as she seems really enthusiastic about it, however she really does need a reality check

Yeah that was what I was saying to her the other day... there are some real lulls in the charts occasionally and you could get anything in.
She's still fucking crazy though, properly lost the plot. She works on a music magazine, has done radio in the past and knows a few 'music peeps' / 'music celebs' - I think she just wants to do it as a challenge, like a social experiment / bit of a example of how stupid the music industry is today...
but still... I don't think she's thought it through properly... like getting a song? recording a song? downloading autotune. marketting it etc?

Its one thing looking at when top songs are being released and how they may do, but its another to guess about the bottom ones.

This plan of her's is a long term one... before next christmas, so end of 2010 - and she plans to do some viral marketting / interviews with celebs / blogs / video diaries etc. I guess she hopes it gets picked up by some day time tv or radio - like GMTV or some regional radio and that'll help her in her challenge... then aim all the sales into 1 week and boom.
To be honest though, I think the marketting part isn't the hardest... the hardest will be coming up with a song and singing it

Isnt it sales THAT WEEK though. So she'd have to sell on average over 350 copies of it a day?
The marketing will easily be the hardest, as Id of thought about 100 people a week have this idea and release something with the hope of doing the same thing.
