Half the time in the marked BMWs, rest in unmarked cars to see the difference. Soooo excited

i did college and am now a normal cop. I'm not going to be a full time traffic cop, but im doing my traffic attachment to see if its a career I want to persue.

To get in life experience is more important than a good education

there's loads of information online about it, or speak to an officer/send off for information pack. I love my job, would highly recommend it

So we're paying you a weeks wage to see if you'll enjoy it as a career?
Sounds good though hope you enjoy it When I was younger I wanted to join the force and progress to the traffic unit. Don't drive too fast in those beemers

Traffic cop has got to be the best job in the police force. Paid to drive around in patrol cars and chase down potential offenders.

As much as i hate traffic cops sometimes, the job really appeals to me so long as you dont have to work to targets of total prosecutions or something.

Patroling the roads in a police car, pulling over people etc is the easy bit! Telling someones parents that there child has been in a fatal accident must take some doing! Or even worse having to Clear up a fatal RTC involving young children would destroy me! Good luck to you mate

Yeah got to do this today. Wasnt expecting it at all! Wasnt a child, but still wasnt easy.

Whoever said traffic policing is boring, or would get boring after a while....its FAR from it. It's not just giving people tickets and standing with the laser (although yes you do do that), you respond to RTC's, as mentioned go tell families theyve lost their loved ones (although we do that as core officers too), as well as assisiting core in more ways that people would think. When executing warrents etc, we tend to have traffic there.

I've really enjoyed today, its opened my eyes a lot and looking forward to tomorrows night shift. Although I've seen dead bodies on core and dealt with that, this is the first one I've seen that has been in a RTC and isnt fully 'intact' shall we say, which was hard, but all the family were around which made it harder.

The cars are cool, full of gadgets, but I honestly feel the department doesnt get the funding it should!
Thanks for all your comments

I'll tell you what, its true what they say. It didnt get to me at the time tbh, as much as its not pleasent dealing with a dead body, esp one thats died in a non-natural way, its still just a lump of meat at end of the day.

But once you get home, and the adrenaline goes, and you have time to reflect on the fear they must have felt, the pain, and what the family/friends are going through right now, it does kinda hit you a bit!
