....to be unveiled on September 18th!

quote:
Gillett also confirmed that Liverpool will unveil a new shirt sponsor on September 18, stating: "I think people will be pleased and surprised. It will be one of the great, worldwide corporations. And I think it will be a sponsor people will be pleased and surprised to be [associated with] Liverpool."

Rumours were it was either Prudential or Standard Chartered, both for approx £15m a season, but i would say neither of those are classed as a 'great, worldwide corporation', or surprising.

No idea who it is, both Red Bull and CocaCola (although they sponsor the Championship so no idea if they could sponsor us?), have been mentioned but those are just guesses.

Was a flippant remark, not regarding the history of the reason behind Liverpudlians hating the Sun newspaper, and their disgraceful actions of the past.

Why are they ditching Carlsberg? Not enough cash from them, or becuase it can't be used in Europe or something?

Nah I was only joking, wanted to see if he'd back track for saying it Its already doing the rounds on the Liverpool forum that its them

Getting rid of Carlsberg for 3 reasons..1. they wont pay us what we want, 2. they have just done a deal with the FA and are reluctant to do one with us two, and 3. the possibility of alcohol advertising being banned.

I suppose by doing this it also allows us to get a 'beer' sponsor for in the ground which should bring in another mil or so a season.

I hope its Redbull. They'd probably get the rights to the pre/during and post match drinks for players. All that caffine would seriously fuck them up!!

Would RedBull be allowed due to the NY Red Bulls? Or does it not matter because they are in different Nations?

Didn't Carlsberg lose a shed load of sales in Liverpool due to doing some sort of deal with The Sun with regards to cheap beers? Sure I recall reading that somewhere on t'inerweb.
