Working in a bodyshop is hard work and not the best of pay unless you own the business, working in a dealerships bodyshop doesn't pay much.

Don't tell him what it is

some of you guys say its poor pay, but you have got to start at the bottom of the ladder most places you start working, and i love body work, think its ace to be honest...
done mechanics for 4/5 years now and cant stand it now, i do my own cars and familys cars but want to go over to the otherside now and do the exterior..

It's generally poor pay unless you own the business, the jobs don't make enough money to pay numerous employess mega money.

If you enjoy it do it, you would have to go to college for a few years aswell though wouldn't you so you would probably be on a shit wage in the meantime.

Apply at big firms for it, but you will need to be qualified to be taken into serious consideration for a job.
My uncle owns lincolnshires biggest bodyshop so i know a fair bit about them...
http://www.brooklandsautobody.co.uk/home.htm
As a panel beater when fully qualified you are usually on £8-£8.50ph as a grade3 technician. it then goes up to around £10ph as a grade 2 if you make the effort.
Sprayers earn a little bit more, but my uncles top sprayers wont be on much more than 30k per annum.
