National average is about £800 P/A on Gas and around £400 P/A on electric.
3300 units of electric and 20,500 units of gas.

They can't be robbing you if you've used it, it's like saying you picked up a toy in a toy shop labelled '£30' then when you open your purse and you can only pay £25, your claiming theft? Weird statement that!
Usually people leaving the heating on when in bed or at work allday, not setting timers properly and the heating comes on when you're unaware.
The one mistake that happened in my household when I first moved out was I'd say to my girlfriend, "Turn the heating down to 16 or 17 when you come to bed, night", she'd then come upto bed and forgets to turn the heating down, it's on all night due to room temp dropping anyway, a boiler firing up 9 or 10 times a night can also give you high bills.

Looking over my final bill here on my 1 bed flat, between 13-Feb-2009 to 31-Aug-2009 I used:
£176.34 Electricity.
£95.44 Gas.
So call it 6.5 months,
£27.13mnth elec
£14.68mnth gas
I'd start to pay £30 a month for each and ask for a review after 3 months or whatever to see what your using!!

Just had a look at my BG online account, for 22 June - 25 Sep we used £27 gas (1 shower a day, hob gas, combi boiler gas) and £17 electric (1 shower a day by missus, and then all your usual TV, laptop, console etc).
Not bad really.....gas is gonna rocket soon though

Mum and dad pay about a grand a year for electricity and over that for gas, we've not got 8 bedrooms.
