Hi people,

Been on here a while, my first car was a black corsa sport (below)

I then bought a 106 gti (below) and still drive this whilst the Corsa is off the road.

Anyway, I bought this Corsa about 2 months ago so thought its about time I started a project thread. Most of you will know the car as Rob E's old let. haven't driven it since I brought it home in August some time and I wont be using it until next year when my insurance runs out on the 106.

I've done a lot of work on it already and have a couple of pics, but still have a fair bit to do till i'm driving it. (Pictures are all over the place so excuse the order of some things as I cant remember what order i've done everything).

Pics after I got it home.

When I got it home and had a good look round it up on ramps I realised that it needed welding in a few places which was understandable as its a 13year old car. The spare wheel well was the main culprit but when I took the rear bumper off the valance was pretty corroded too. My plan was to weld up the rear and seal/treat all the inside/underneath. Once I took all the interior out I realised there were a few rust spots in the passenger foot wells and a bit in the drivers footwell so cut that back and welded in plates there too. Don't have any pictures of the rust as I didn't think at the time. Have a few pictures of the finished article though.

Half way through the front -

Little bit of sound proofing back in -

New gear stick gaiter -

Carpet valeted and £2.99 Wilkos mats

Carpet in -

Tigra coin tray -

Bumper shine on the plastics before they go in -

Most of the welding took a good weekend. No pictures of all the interior in as it was late and dark. Still have to weld the rear arches, but will do that when it's back up on stands and the rear axle is dropped.

More to come...

Next up was to stone chip the rear valance and sills.

The Materials (excluding stone chip )

And the compressor

(I did mask the rear, photo was taken after)

In the mean time I bought some Vectra SRI 4 stud alloys and refurbished them in silver. Not many pictures but hey.

I've now decided to buy some satin black compomotive mo's though, so these will be up for sale again

Bought a rotary polisher and some products to try one weekend when I was bored.

State of the clay

Was impressed with the results of the clay - very smooth

After one or two passes with the rotary/srp

I was quite happy with the results so I didn't try and take anymore paint off as i've never used one before.

Applied EGP and left it for about an hour when I lightly buffed it off

Was pleased with the finish

Beading

Few little bits that i've changed.

Old

New

Pics of under the bonnet. I bought a tophat cover, battery bag, heatshield and cam cover bolts. Gave it a general tidy up (tidied wires etc.)

Fitted some smoked MHW's

Welded a new tip on the exhaust as i've never really like the oval, fitted the rear bumper along with the new number plate light cover I ordered -

Got the MHW's from Mark Lawton (cheers mate) along with his carbon bonnet, smoked side repeaters and mudflaps.

Trial fitted the bonnet (needs to be sanded and lacquered again) but will try the rotary on it first.

Bonnet is only test fitted (not pinned or bolted yet)

Think thats somewhere near up-to-date. still have muchos to do.

Plans

The following I have already bought and is waiting to go on:

F28 Gearbox
F28 mounts
Equal Length Shafts
Whiteline Rear ARB
Polyrace polybush kit (Rally Design)

I am waiting for postage of some Hi Spec 4 Pots off Weddy (off here) and a linkage off Beardy.

Will purchase a Quaife diff once the box is ready to go in

Picking up some 15" Compomotive Mo's off Rick Draper next weekend (powdercoated satin black)

Need a few other bits but can't think of them off the top of my head.

The plan is to drop the rear axle, underseal everything whilst off and sort out the knocking from the rear right shock, fit the polyrace bushes throughout and the Whiteline rear ARB then fit it all back together.

Front bumper might be on tomorrow!

Thanks for the positive responses! Makes it all worthwhile.

Spent some of the evening bolting the back bumper/arches on properly and getting the front bumper to sit properly, but was dark by the time I finished so final pictures aren't great. Managed to fit the rear mudflaps too, but didn't get any pics .

I'm working away all week so updates will/should be next weekend.

Daylight pics of some of yesterdays work -

And one (poor) photo of the front bumper fitted (will get daylight pics next weekend, bonnet should be fitted then too)

Look light as I brightened them up.

Need to figure out where to put the number plate now.
