So put my escort up for sale middle of september. Put it at 795 as it's in good condition, long tax and mot, and it's on X plate...
Phone wasnt ringing so lowered the price... One guy viewed it said would come in day light and never came...
Had to put it up on AT again after two weeks, at lower price, 699 no offers. Looking at other escort round my area its really cheap and similar ones are up for around a grand...
Few days after relisting the advert i get a call from some chinese woman from oxford, whos sister lives in york (close to me) saying she wants to buy a car... ok you want to come and have a look at it? so her sister called me back asking for address etc.. never showed up...
Then i get a call from a guy in Reading... (sounded english) was interested to come and see a car but i was at uni that day and he never called me back..
The very next day i get a call from a pakistani sounding guy from BRISTOL.. thats far from me. 200 miles. Was asking about my car, asked to send some pictures etc... ok i sent him some pictures ( his email address gave away that he was a trader)... so he offered me 500 when is said "no offers" really pissed me off especially i knew it would be on his pitch few days later at twice the price... then he wanted me to meet him some where.. i told him i am not insured to drive the car... his reply " well i will drive 200 and u can't drive 20 miles?" so i jut hung up...
Now i get a text message(coppied 100%)
"Do u stil hav car for sale pls txt bak"
Me " Yeah i still have it"
"Wats the least u wil take for it"
me " whats your best offer?"
"450 or 500"
me " LOL"
"wel wats the least then"
me "600"
so at this point i don't know if i should cry or laugh at them but that kinda people just piss me off...
and i can kinda guess what kind of answers there will be but i jut had to let steam off...
Edit: forgot to say that same chinese woman called me today ( she said she didn't call me) but it deffo was her... but this time she said she was from london and asking what is the lowest i would go to... i said 650 and she said she had 600 and then she said 550...
then another pakistani called again asking what is lowest price and basicly wanted me to MOT the car ( mot till end of april) and i said lowest i would go is 650.. he said " i can't afford that" ...me " well there is no point in me talking to you, bye"...

I'll give you £250
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

I take it you've never haggled on price for something then? That's just what happens. You want £600 then put it up for £700.

I usually use Pistonheads/Ebay and that's that tbh. I just remember AT being a what I would consider a big outlay, like £40 or something is it?

There's 60 million people in the UK, taking offers means they'll all talk to you.
A hundred quid may seem a lot in percentage terms but in the grand scheme of things I wouldn't want the hassle.

500 isn't bad, if you got an offer of 600 take it and run.

Perhaps they're all dreaming as well.
I got an R reg Puma for 350 and an S reg for 250. If a P reg Fiesta is a grand I'll eat my shoes.

You can take it in to account but it still doesn't explain how I got a better, newer car for half the price of said Fiesta.

i sold my corsa for 650 few months back on R plate 106k miles, my sister just sold her clio on R reg for 550! and none of these cars were as good as my escort.
We get cheap houses you get cheap cars..
I think its because people buy newer cars down south and not bothered what they get for their old cars?

People buy Corsas and Clios of that age because they're a nice colour or its got a nice babe on board sticker. Whether its a good car or not is irrelevant.
