Ok, so i've had one over a year now (360), and always felt dissapointed with it and haven't bothered playing it much. Its never been on the tinternet either....

When I played Forza 2, i was dissapointed as the "green and red - and + time text" was practically un-readable, even though I was using a very good flatscreen TV.

I then heard that its as im using the standard cable supplied and I should bin that and get another one.....

So, I have 2 options....

a) Get another cable for the TV, enjoy playing it for an hour or 2 before missy comes home and wants to watch bollox like eastenders...
or
b) Move it to the PC screen (19") which is also in the same room which means I can play as long as I want, and also connect it directly into my router (honestly, I haven't looked at it in ages, can I just cat5 is into my router?) and join this whole world of playing it on the internet...

Im guessing if I go option B, I shall need the VGA monitor cable, can you get these for Xbox's? Also the wippet here said i'd need to buy an optional plug in part to connect it to the internet?

Can someone update an old timer that really should use this bit of kit thats gathering dust? I only like driving games. What are my options, what would be the best thing for me to do?

Ta

much love

if you're using the standard cable supplied, i'd invest in a hdmi cable, even cheap ones make one hell of a difference to sharpness, even on pretty small screens

When you say you've been using the standard cable do you mean scart or component?
Getting a new cable (I'm guessing HDMI) will depend on the age of the xbox and also what connections the TV has

You can get a VGA cable however you'll generally need a seperate way to get the audio

If you use VGA its still going to be analouge.. Get a HDMI cable they only cost a couple of quid on eBay.. You dont need to buy a fancy one as its a digital signal so it will either work or it wont

Cat 5 straight into your router, jobs a good'un.
As said, VGA would work but wouldn't take the audio. Try an HDMI cable if the TV and Xbox have the connections.

OK i'll check her tonight...

tbh, i think the PC screen is the better option as I can play whenever. I will loose the fight to play it in the evening when missy is home. Also means a LOT easier cabling otherwise its got to go round the living room.

So i guess I should re-phrase my question now the Cat5 one has been answered...

Whats the best way to connect my Xbox to my PC monitor

Unless your monitor is one of those tv combo things, I doubt it'll have the phono connectors, would need to plug them into an amp or something

Like Alun says it's doubtful
When I was using a monitor I had the phono cables plugged in to the back of the stereo next to the PC

Due to my setup this isn't possible really.

Can you not utilise the PC speakers or something?

Depends on the connections. I might have an adaptor at home I could send you but god knows how long it would take to reach you

I'll nosey my Xbox when im home.

Image google isn't giving me confidence that it will though as im sure my monitor hasn't got the extra jack points needed for audio.

Which puts my back to point 1, using it on the TV, which means v limited playing time so kinda pointless for me

Bummer

You could probably use something like this or this to then utilise the PC speakers but all depends on what connections they have

What speakers do you have for your PC? they should have a 3.5mm jack input on them, so get a phono to 3.5mm converter, plug the phono leads into the adapter and away you go

Yeah standard 3.5mm cable, but the Male end of the speakers plugs into the PC..

So i'd need female to female Phono Lead converter (as 3.5 leads OUT of speaker are male, and phono lead out of xbox are male, so I need a twin female connector box to plug them both into)....

Hmmmm such a ballache....

Adds 28" PC/Monitor to xmas list to save hassle

Me again....

No Phone leads in monitor

I've got USB (no good), VGA (Video only), and DVI ports.... (im assuming DVi won't do sound).

BUT

I do have a TV card on the bottom of my PC.. So if I had my PC turned on, and used the above pictured cable, could I run the audio Red/white into the TV card, and if so, would this send the sound through the PC speakers?
