VTS if you're going to get anything, you can pick up a ph1 VTS for about £800. Good cheap fun.

too light on the front, good handling but snap easily in the wet, 2 friends of mine have wrote saxo's off because of grip in the wet (lack off) not even belting it.

VTR, fairly nippy. VTS pretty quick for what it is.
IMO phase 1's look a lot better than the Phase 2.
If you can see past the chavy image then they're alright!

Get a VTS, but like people said brakes are shite so I would do the 266mm upgrade from a 306.
Here is mine before I sold it:
Took me over 6 months to find it, its very hard to find an un-abused standard VTS these days.

With the right set up it won't do that, plus a decent driver.

In that case get a MK2 with the 3 plug ECU (98 bhp), they have cheaper tax.

Came from a 04 plate civic type r to my 1200 vts and love it to bits. Just as quick too. If you go to the projects section and go to page 2 or 3 i have a thread documenting mine from start to finish with pics and vids etc.
Best 1200 i have ever spent car wise

I have owned both a MK2 VTR and MK1 VTS.
I loved every second of my VTR and VTS. I would definatly own one again.
I didn't have a single problem with my VTR and my brothers wife now owns this car.
My VTS only had a new Lambda sensor after the old one shat itself.
If your after cheap frills and don't mind the odd rattle definatly go for one.
Ste
This is my VTS when i sold it back in Feb 2009 -

My current VTR; paid about £750 for it with 12 months MOT. Good fun simple cars; had loads of VTS and 106 GTi's in the past i have to say they are one of the most fun cars i've owned.
