so if im correct, you use it to bore cylenders out? could this also be used for centre bored on alloy wheels

Its used to scratch up cylinder walls for new piston rings, it doesn't bore anything out like a drill.

Most of the time its easier to just get a new(ish) engine rather than piss fart about honing bores. Maybe 20 years ago sure but not anymore.

might not be for a car though, my old mates got one,use on my quad engines,when rebuilding them

That is probably 1 of the stupidest things ive read on here.

I didnt know what it was for(till a few posts later,thanks sand-eel).Id have thought it was for enlarging the hole the piston sits in.

I think everyone knows what honing is seeing as there is so much expertise in how to run an engine in on here.

I seriously didint.Its not something ive ever needed done or needed to enquire about.

As for running an engine in..........kick its hole from day 1.
