I'd buy a black car for my personal car, but my Dad has got a Black Sxi for his driving school car, it is constantly dirty, it looks good of a Sunday afternoon when he cleans it, then on monday it is covered in shit again. In his experience silver is the best colour for looking clean when it isn't

How good is polish at keeping the dirt away? Does it do a good job of keeping the dirt away?

Black is a bastardo to keep clean, as is Rosso Red on a Fiat Punto GT.

Pays off though when its clean.

I'd buy a deep charcoal coloured car before a black again, as the black is too solid/shiny a colour

I had a black Corsa but when I sold it and bought my Golf I got Silver... Purely because the black showed up the slightest scratch really badly where as silver hides it!

And it doesn't look dirty all the time

Any dark colour gets dirty, my Dads black porsche looks crap when we've been out in it, cos its so low it picks up every bit of road shit. I've ordered my new sxi in red, i fancied a change from the 4 black cars at my house

Bright red is alright, but other dark colours are a pain to keep clean.
