How long does it usually take after paying in a cheque for the funds to go into your account? Is it pretty much same day like cash, or usually take longer?

Your bank would be the best place to ask TBH - some banks may clear quicker than others.

Just paid it in at dinner time and at home now. Was just curious, I know they say 3-5 days for cash as that usually clears same day if you do it early enough, wasn't sure if cheques were the same or not.

cash takes a few days?! Usually cash will appear the same day if it's over the counter. Bank transfers or Cheques take 3-5days usually...

Dinner time, as in before 2? Sometimes if it's before a certain time, that counts as a day also so you may get it a day earlier! I'm putting money on it being there by Friday. Quid.

Was the cheque issued by the same bank you were paying it in to? As if so they will sometimes clear a lot quicker.

Erm, no I think it was from a Lloyds account. Just sold a horse so curious how long I have to wait before I can do some internet shopping to cheer myself up

How much did you sell it for out of interest? And as Cosmo said, if it's an HBOS cheque going into an HBOS account (eg) then it could be done within a day.

Please don't speak to me like I'm an idiot, I know the bloke very well, know where he lives etc. He owns one of the biggest hunting yards in the north. No one is going to hand a cheque over without getting the horse at same time. I've bought/sold many horses, I know what I'm doing.
