Shit pic.
Going down a straight bit of dual carriageway after coming off a roundabout and just feathered the accelerator at the same time I hit some black ice, the rear just completely stepped out and was going down the dual carriageway sideways at one point, tried to correct it but nothing I could do. Mounted the kerb, missed a lamp post and straight into the hedge and ditch
Luckily there was no car in the right lane, or else it could have been nasty. No injuries thankfully.
Unmarked police car stopped and helped out, policeman nearly slipped on the ice just getting out his car!, but had to call recovery truck who winched it out. Damage I could see was the bumper ripped off, think front alloy is buckled and scratches all down the drivers side, couldn't see anything else as pitch dark.
Now been waiting for 45 minutes on the phone trying to get hold of DirectLine.....Excess is £350, and they going to charge another £250 cause im under 25, great.

Looks like a Lexus, Direct line policy states that if you are under 25 you will be charged extra.

Yep Lexus IS200 Sport
Before it met a hedge:
Can't believe the direct line policy, didn't realise it had that additional excess, should of examined the policy more.

Really sorry to see that man !!!
I would be devastated if that was me !
You've also got a TTE front bumper on that too.... right ?
Mine got scratched a couple of months back when some kid drove into me. The bill to fix it came to £1600

I always find the TRC works great when you DON'T want it…and is never there when you DO need it !
Also, if you want a tip....
Use the snow mode on motorways...it will give a higher Mpg

Cheers, slightly annoyed but nothing I could do so not beating myself up over it.
Unsure on what bumper it is, all I was told it had the aero kit on it.
£1600 to get some scratches out, great. I'll definately go through the insurance then!
Agreed the Snow and TRC button are useless!

Yeah Aero kit was just a optional upgrade for the front bumper, rear skirt, 18" alloy wheels, and I think also maybe a spoiler ?
In all honesty, the garage replaced my bumper rather than repairing it, and they cost more than the standard bumpers. You need to make sure that the garage will replace your bumper for the right one, and not for the standard bumper!
On the front of your bumper, you should have a little recess at the bottom that will say either TTE or Sport. What does yours say ?
I’ve got the part number and the bill with the price of the bumper somewhere. I’ll have a look and give it to you if you are really interested ?

Examined?
I'm with Direct Line, and that's VERY clearly laid out both when you buy the insurance if you do it online and then again in the documentation. It's not hidden in small print, it's VERY clearly laid out on the back of the schedule.
Be glad you're not under 21, it's £400 then. It used to be £150/£250 though.

Yeah I know. I see it now, I must of glossed over it when I did it online and really only checked my details where correct on schedule and left it at that. Either way it doesn't matter now.

Not driving to the conditions after 2 weeks of below 0 degrees = crash (not accident)
